Description: 

Transform Together scholarships are open to students from any non-EU country applying to study at Sheffield Hallam University to enroll in the 2013/14 academic year.  The scholarships are specially targeted to international students who want to represent the international student body at Sheffield Hallam University through various activities during the academic year and after graduation.

Scholarship value/inclusions:

The scholarships include a one-year full tuition fee waiver for full-time taught postgraduate courses and 50% tuition fee discount for each year of an undergraduate course (subject to successful progression). A package of incentives is to be confirmed, but will include:

• A programme of events which aims to enhance your learning and social experience with fellow scholars

Eligibility:

To be eligible to apply for one of these scholarships you must

• Postgraduate only – has achieved a minimum 2.1 or equivalent in your honors’ degree and must meet the minimum course entry requirements. Please attach transcripts to scholarship applications.

• Undergraduate only – you must achieve or exceed the entry criteria for the course.

• have an unconditional/conditional offer to study a full-time postgraduate course at Sheffield Hallam University.

• be enrolling on a one year full-time taught postgraduate course with Sheffield Hallam starting in the 2013/14 academic year

• be self-funding your studies

• have, or expect to achieve, a minimum of
IELTS 6.0 (5.5 in all areas) or equivalent*

• be classed as an international student for fees purposes

• be able to pay any additional fees your course may require, for example field trips

Application instructions:

You must have an unconditional/conditional offer to study a full-time postgraduate course at Sheffield Hallam University before you can apply for the scholarship. Scholarship applications for taught courses starting in September 2013 applications must be submitted by 30 June 2013. Scholarship applications for taught courses starting in January 2014 must be submitted by 1 November 2013.

Italian Government Scholarships for Foreign Students in 2013



Italian Government Bursaries for Foreign Students

Description:

The Italian Government sponsors a bursary programme for foreign students and IRE (Italian Residents Abroad) to study in Italy during the Academic Year 2013/2014. The programme is offered by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its diplomatic mission in the accredited country of the applicants, to students of selected countries wishing to study at Italian public universities or other public institutions of higher education.

Accredited Italian Universities and Higher Education Institutions.  Please also check the list of the International Offices of the main Italian Universities.

Type(s) of Study supported:

Applicants may request three month bursaries for advanced courses in Italian language and culture, courses in Italian language teaching, and study or research projects at non-private Italian research Centers – Laboratories – Libraries -Archives – Museums.

Applicants may request six or nine month bursaries for Individual university courses. (Levels I or II), university degree courses (Levels I or II), advanced professional training, art and music courses, courses in Italian language teaching, Masters Degree courses (Levels I or II), Doctorates Courses, Schools of specialization, and singly or jointly supervised study or research projects.

Target Group:

Countries whose students may apply to Italian bursaries appear on the Recipient Country List.


Eligibility:

To be eligible for study grants (except the case of language course), students must have the following prerequisites:

Knowledge of the Italian language

Knowledge of the Italian language is indispensable and must be certified or ascertained in an interview at the Italian Cultural Institute or at the Cultural Office of the local Italian diplomatic Mission or at the Italian studies Department of the applicant’s university.

Educational Credentials

Candidates must have the credentials requested for enrolment in the institution of their choice. All credentials and certificates of study must be submitted along with their Italian translation, which must be certified as conforming to the foreign language texts by the Italian diplomatic Mission, i.e. by an official translator along with a statement attesting (dichiarazione di valore in loco) the authenticity of the credentials prepared by the Italian diplomatic Mission.

• Degree courses at Italian universities: the candidate must have a secondary school diploma valid for the enrollment in a university.

• Masters I or II programmer at Italian universities: candidates must have a degree equal to the Italian baccalaureate, along with any other documentation that may be required by the chosen institution.

• Individual courses: the certificate of enrollment issued by the university for foreigners is usually sufficient.

• Art and music institutes: it requires certification of having concluded a cycle of secondary school studies valid for admission to accredited State academies or conservatories.

• Italian language and culture courses: a secondary school diploma is required.

Age Limits
The age limit for obtaining a study grant is cited in bilateral Cultural Agreement Executive Programmes. Where not expressly established, the age limit is 35 years old.  However, this age limit does not apply to applicants who are Italian language teachers and actively engaged in teaching Italian.

With the exception of the provisions stated in Cultural Agreement Executive Programmes, in no case grants can be awarded to anyone who would still be below the age of 18 during the period covered by the grant.  Considering the varying age limits established by different institutions, it is recommended to check such detail directly with the institution (the National Cinema School, for example, has an age limit of 27).

Before submitting their applications prospective applicants to Italian bursaries must contact the university or institution in Italy where they intend to study. They are advised to be as fully informed as possible about the institution and course of study of their choice.


Applicants are kindly requested to obtain country-specific information from the Italian diplomatic mission or Italian Cultural Institute of their country of origin, either in person or from the institutional websites. Applications open in May. Deadline is around June 2013.

The University Of Pavia (UNIPV), in order to promote international cooperation with the Developing Countries, offers scholarships for selected Masters Studies at the University of Pavia or at the Institute for Advanced Study of Pavia (IUSS) during the academic year 2013-2014.

Applicants may select only a course degree taught in English, selected among the following ones offered by the University of Pavia:

Target group:

The scholarships are targeted to students coming from a developing country classified as low-income economy or as a lower-middle-income economy by the World Bank (see http://data.worldbank.org/about/country-classifications/country-and-lending-groups#Low_income)

Scholarship value/inclusions:

All scholarships of 8.000 Euros will be available.  Each scholarship will cover also the expenses for the Visa and for the travel to Italy and back (economy class).

Eligibility:

• Only students born on/after the 1st January 1978 can participate.

• Must come from a Developing Country classified as low-income economy or as a lower-middle-income economy by the World Bank (see http://data.worldbank.org/about/country-classifications/country-and-lending-groups#Low_income)

Application instructions:

Interested candidates must submit the application form (available on the website of UNIPV) which has to include:

• A complete application form with all the requested personal and academic data, the exact name of the selected course degree and of the Faculty at the University of Pavia or at IUSS;

• A curriculum vitae (European format);

• A programme of studies and/or research activities which the candidate intends to implement during his/her stay in Pavia;

• A recent letter of reference signed by a university professor;

• A recent health certificate attesting that the applicant is not suffering from physical or mental illnesses;

• A photocopy of a valid passport of the applicant.

Applications must arrive by 12.00 pm of the 10 May 2013.

• A strong commitment to international understanding and peace demonstrated through professional and academic achievements and personal and community service activities

• A bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience as a minimum, with strong academic achievement

•  A minimum of three years’ combined paid or unpaid full-time relevant work experience (master’s degree) or five years’ relevant work experience with current full-time employment in a mid- to upper-level position (professional development certificate)

• Proficiency in a second language (master’s degree) or in English (professional development certificate)

• Strong leadership skills
