Description:

Gates Cambridge Scholarships are highly competitive full-cost scholarships. They are awarded to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge.

Gates Cambridge Scholarships are extremely competitive: over 4,000 applicants apply for 90 Scholarships each year.

Citizens of any country outside the United Kingdom

Scholarship value/inclusions:

A Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge, namely:

• The University Composition Fee and College fees at the appropriate rate

• A maintenance allowance for a single student (£13,000 for 12 months at the current 2012-2013 rate; pro rata for courses shorter than 12 months)

• The cost of the most economical airfare from the scholar’s normal country of residence to the UK at the beginning of their course and the cost of the most economical airfare from the UK to the scholar’s normal country of residence at the end of the course.

The Trust also considers applications for several types of additional funding on a discretionary basis such as family allowance, conference attendance, fieldwork allowance, some fourth year funding for PhD scholars and hardship funding.

Eligibility:

You can apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship if you are:

• A citizen of any country outside the United Kingdom.

• Applying to pursue one of the following full-time residential courses of study: PhD (three year research-only degree); MSc or MLitt (two year research-only degree); or a one year postgraduate course (e.g. MPhil, LLM, MA St, Diploma, MBA etc.)

• Already a student at Cambridge and want to apply for a new postgraduate course. For example, if you are studying for an MPhil you can apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship to do a PhD. However, if you have already started a course, you cannot apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship to fund the rest of it.

• Already a Gates Cambridge Scholar and want to apply for a second Scholarship. You must apply by the second, international deadline and go through the same process of departmental ranking, short listing and interviewing as all other candidates.

Description:

Domus Academy in partnership with SLOWEAR is inviting application for master’s scholarship in fashion management. The Master in Fashion Management aims at shaping and developing the competencies of managers capable to understand and play the rules of Fashion. The Master in Fashion Management will provide participants with a strong, robust basis of fundamental managerial tools and with the necessary conceptual framework to understand and follow modern fashion languages and trends. Participants will also have the possibility to gain direct experience developing projects on specific topics chosen among the hottest issues in Fashion, and they will have the chance to work together with the most outstanding professionals and the most prestigious fashion brands. A series of meetings with companies’ executives and visits to fashion companies will be a key element of the program.

The master’s scholarship is awarded in Fashion Management at Domus Academy in Italy.

Target group: 

International students are eligible for this master’s scholarship.

Scholarship value/inclusions:

• A scholarship to cover 70% of the value of the entry fee to the Master.
• A scholarship to cover 50% of the value of the entry fee to the Master.
• A scholarship to cover 30% of the value of the registration fee for the Master.

Eligibility:

·         Candidates holding a first-level academic diploma or BA degree, or about to graduate within the academic year 2012/13 and with a knowledge of the English language (IELTS 5.0 academic or equivalent certificate).
·         The competition is open to professionals and graduates in economics, business administration, human science, and fashion related disciplines, that are passionate about fashion and eager to develop new skills in order to start a career in a fashion company.
·         It is also open to fashion designers willing to launch a personal label and entrepreneurs or owners of a family business operating in the fashion industry.

Description:


The Matsumae International Foundation is a nongovernmental organization. Its Fund is solely based on donations from many Japanese people who have responded with goodwill to Dr. Shigeyoshi Matsumae’s call. While many donations have been kindly offered by enterprises and groups, most of the donors are individuals who are sympathetic with the Founder’s ideals, and maintain contributions to the Fund from their limited incomes. Successful applicants are urged to seriously consider and understand the goodwill of those persons, and ensure that the provided fellowships are utilized effectively. 

Field(s) of study:

Fields of study such as natural science, engineering and medicine are given first priority.

Target group: 

Non-Japanese citizens can apply for these fellowships.

Scholarship value/inclusions:

The following financial support is provided to successful applicants. No support to his/her family or dependents is available. Fellowships are provided for successful applicants only, and intended for necessary living expenses and research activities in Japan. Under no circumstances is any part of the fellowships transferable to any other persons or other items.

Stipend for research and stay: ¥200,000 yen is provided monthly for the purpose of payment of tuition, expenses for research materials, lodging, meals, transportation, etc.

Insurance: Overseas Travel Accident/Sickness Insurance: (1) Personal accident insurance with death benefit and medical treatment, and (2) Sickness insurance with death benefit and medical treatment.

Air transportation: An economy-class round-trip air ticket between the international airport nearest to successful applicant’s home residence and Tokyo via most direct routing is provided. The provided air ticket cannot be converted to cash, nor can cash be provided by the Foundation for purchase of an air ticket by any individual or organization other than the Foundation.

Lump sum on arrival: ¥100,000 yen is provided to assist with local travel expenses on arrival, the initial cost of lodging, etc.


Eligibility:

Applicants of non-Japanese nationality who meet all of the following eligibility requirements are invited to submit the required application documents.
1. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (Doctorate) degree, or be recognized by the Matsumae International Foundation as possessing equivalent academic qualifications.
2. Applicants must be under 49 years old at the time of application.
3. Applicants must have sufficient conversational ability in English or Japanese to prevent insurmountable difficulties during their research activities in Japan.
4. Applicants should not have been in Japan in the past and/or in the present.
5. Applicants should have firm positions and professions in their home countries, and should return to their countries on completion of their fellowship stay by the Foundation.
6. Applicants must be of sound health and not physically handicapped in any way which would not prevent from carrying out research in Japan. 

Application instructions:

Applicants should obtain the current issue of the Fellowship Announcement from the Foundation. To obtain the announcement, write to MIF with name and address by postal mail, or by E-mail. Or, download the announcement from the webpage of the Foundation and print out the Application Form in PDF-format or MS Word file. The Foundation cannot entertain requests for waivers of the eligibility requirements and other conditions, listed in the Fellowship Announcement, and will not respond to such requests. Application must be submitted from the applicant’s home country. Under no circumstances will an application be accepted from a person already in Japan. Applications are to be submitted in full by August 31, 2013.
